PARIS, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese veteran Xie Siyi beat teammate Wang Zongyuan to defend his title in the men's 3m springboard at the Paris Olympic Games on Thursday.
Xie, 28, won both the individual and synchronized events at the Tokyo Games, but only competed in the individual event in Paris.
Although he finished behind the 22-year-old Wang in both the preliminary and semifinal, he managed to push himself forward in the final with a result of 543.60 points.
Wang, the silver medalist of this event at the Tokyo Olympic Games, finished second again in 530.20 while Mexican Osmar Olvera Ibarra took the bronze in 500.40.
Wang, claiming the synchronized gold with Xie three years ago, defended his title with new partner Long Daoyi last Friday.
The Chinese diving dream team has bagged home all of the six gold medals so far with two more events to go.
