TAIPEI, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Taipei will launch 40 guided tours along 15 specially-designed routes to help visitors gain an in-depth understanding of the city, the city's cultural department announced Wednesday.
The event is to mark the 140th anniversary of the full establishment of the old walled city of Taipei.
Besides guided tours, there will also be two photography workshops, four lectures on the theme of Taipei's founding, and six traditional craft experience events. More than 70 cultural institutions across the city will be featured during the event, according to a press release.
It added that the tours are designed to give visitors a deeper understanding of the city's historical heritage.
The activities will run through the end of this year and registration for these activities will open on Aug. 16.
In 1876, the court of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) decided to establish a city seat in Taipei. The walled city of Taipei was fully completed in 1884 after two years of construction. ■
