JAIPUR, India, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Standing in India's northwestern state of Rajasthan since 1727, Jaipur, the capital of the state, has survived the ages, attracting visitors from home and abroad.
Jaipur became known as the pink city in 1876 when Maharaja Ram Singh had most of the buildings painted pink, the color of hospitality, in preparation for a visit by Britain's Queen Victoria. Today, the city is known for its bazaars, forts, temples, palaces, and wildlife sanctuaries.
The ancient city of Jaipur has iconic buildings such as Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal and City Palace, and was listed on the World Heritage List in 2019.
