PARIS, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Two-time Olympic medalist Bryony Page of Britain finally won her first Olympic gold medal on Friday, delivering a flawless routine in the women's trampoline at the Paris Games.

Two-time world champion Page, who won a bronze in Tokyo and a silver in Rio, claimed the title with 56.480 points.

"Seeing my name come on top of the scoreboard meant I had the chance of becoming an Olympic champion," Page said. "I didn't know there was another competitor still to come (laughs). I was quite amazed when the final scores came through."

Viyaleta Bardzilouskaya, an individual neutral athlete, took the silver with 56.060. The bronze medal went to Canada's Sophiane Methot, who finished 55.650. Methot placed fifth at last year's world championships.

Defending champion Zhu Xueying of China placed fourth, and her teammate Hu Yicheng came eighth, which marked the first time since the Athens Olympics in 2004 that no Chinese athletes reach the podium.

China is a traditional trampoline powerhouse, having captured 14 out of 36 medals in the past Olympics. In Tokyo, China achieved a 1-2 finish in the women's event.

Page, despite finishing fifth in the qualification, was considered a strong title contender after defeating Zhu at the world championships.

Zhu's safer routine in the final, with a difficulty score of 14.400, was not enough to topple Page's 15.000.

"Given my severe back pain, completing all routines in the qualification and finals was already an achievement," said Zhu. "For that, I still want to cheer for myself, for making it through."
