PARIS, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Sweden's Sarah Sjoestroem blitzed her rivals to clinch gold in the women's 100m freestyle at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday.
Sjoestroem, the world record holder in the event, powered home in 52.16 seconds, 0.13 seconds faster than American Torri Huske, who took silver.
Siobhan Bernadette Haughey from Hong Kong, China claimed bronze in 52.33 at La Defensa Arena. ■
