BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), on Monday called on China's armed forces to push forward military reform in an effective and orderly manner.
Zhang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the statement at a meeting of the armed forces to raise awareness related to the study and implementation of the guiding principles from the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.
Zhang called for gaining a full and accurate understanding of the major reform resolution that was adopted at the plenary session, as well as a clear understanding of the military's reform tasks.
He Weidong, another CMC vice chairman and a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, noted at the meeting that implementing and gaining a thorough understanding of the plenary session's guiding principles should be a major political task for the armed forces.
He said that the awareness-raising program should help soldiers and officers gain an improved understanding of the plenum's political significance and major reform measures, and it should pool strength to deepen military reform and elevate the Chinese armed forces to a world-class standard.
On Monday, Zhang also delivered a lecture for CMC departments on the plenum's guiding principles, calling for efforts to advance the Chinese military's development through reform and innovation. ■
