HONG KONG, July 23 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 hit Fiji Islands region at 0745 GMT on Tuesday, the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 633.4 km, was initially determined to be at 20.93 degrees south latitude and 178.97 degrees west longitude. ■
