PHNOM PENH, July 22 (Xinhua) -- The central banks of Cambodia and Timor-Leste on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening banking and financial cooperation, said a news release from the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC).
The MoU was inked by NBC's Governor Chea Serey and Central Bank of Timor-Leste Governor Helder Lopes after their first bilateral meeting, the news release said.
"The MoU aims at strengthening cooperation between the two central banks in payment connectivity, digital financial innovation, banking supervision, financial inclusion, and human resources development," the news release said.
"Through the MoU, the experts of the two central banks will strengthen technical cooperation through regular discussions, exchange of views, and sharing of information and data related to economics and finance as well as experiences and knowledge on technical work," it added.
During the meeting, the two central bank governors also discussed and exchanged views on economic situations, monetary policies, and banking development processes in both countries, the news release said.
The two sides also shared experiences and strategies on local currency promotion and other important topics of interest for both central banks, it added. ■
