HANOI, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam is making preparations for the upcoming Prapiroon storm, the second of its kind to strike the Southeast Asian country so far this year, local media reported.

The storm is said to affect Vietnam's northern and central coastal areas on Monday night, said the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The northeastern part of the northern region is forecast to receive rainfall between 100-200 mm, with some areas exceeding 300 mm, Vietnam News reported.

Northern localities of Nam Dinh, Thai Binh and Quang Binh banned boats from going out to sea from Monday morning.

Northern Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, home to famous bays and islands, stopped giving permits for tourist ships to stay overnight at sea starting Monday noon to avoid impacts from the storm, VnExpress reported.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has asked its units to prepare plans to adjust flight schedules following the storm's developments to ensure flight operation safety.
