KARACHI, Pakistan, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's largest city Karachi has experienced a sharp turn in weather conditions with the heavy rain taking place of days of a scorching heat.

People and vehicles on Saturday waded through flooded streets of the southeastern port city, which was soaked in downpour, a sight in contrast with residents having to cool off themselves in swimming pools or sea waters over days of heatwaves.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday, vigorous monsoon activity were expected till July 21 across the South Asian country, with intense spells of rain, wind and thundershowers, which could cause flooding.

It also said Pakistan has received 8 percent above normal rainfall during the ongoing monsoon season which will last till mid-September.
