PARIS, July 21 (Xinhua) -- The International Olympic Committee (IOC) invited the Italian Olympic Committee into a targeted dialogue on Saturday to explore a proposal for the 2028 Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Italy.
The IOC executive board named Dolomiti Valtellina, and its regional partners in Lombardy, Trentino and Veneto, as the preferred hosts for the next edition of the Winter YOG. The project will build on the legacies of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympic Games.
The future host Commission will analyze all strategic and technical elements of the project and report back to the IOC Executive Board later this year. If all the requirements for hosting the Youth Olympic Games are met, Dolomiti Valtellina 2028 will then be put forward for election by a future IOC Session. ■
