LONDON, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Manchester City have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Savio Moreira de Oliveira from French side Troyes for a fee of 40 million euros (about 43.6 million U.S. dollars).
20-year-old Savio has agreed a contract until the end of June 2029 after impressing on loan with Girona in La Liga last season, scoring 11 goals and giving 10 assists in 41 appearances as the club finished third behind Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
Both Troyes and Girona form part of the City Football Group, and Savio leaves without ever playing for the French side.
"I'm a Brazilian who likes to play on the front foot, to be happy, to play joyful football. I like playing one against one, making assists, scoring goals, and helping the team. My main characteristic, what I like the most, is being happy and getting fans up off their seats," said Savio, who has already played seven times for the Brazilian national team.
The Manchester City Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, said, "Savio has a big role to play for Manchester City this season and beyond."
Begiristain added, "The club is totally confident in his ability. He is still young and has the potential to become even better. He has already shown his huge quality and technical ability and is an exciting addition to our attacking area." ■
