ASUNCION, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Brighton forward Julio Enciso has been called up to Paraguay's squad for the Olympic Games in Paris, the South American country's football association said on Monday.
The 20-year-old replaces Cruzeiro midfielder Fabrizio Peralta, who was forced to withdraw due to an unspecified muscle injury.
Enciso had earlier this year been included on Paraguay's provisional list for the Games that was reduced to 18 players earlier this month.
Paraguay's squad includes two players over the age of 23: goalkeeper Gatito Fernandez and defender Fabian Balbuena.
The South American team earned a place in the Olympic tournament by winning the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) Pre-Olympic Tournament in Venezuela in February.
Paraguay will begin their campaign against Japan on July 24 before also facing Israel and Mali in the group stage. ■
