LONDON, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Ipswich Town have strengthened their squad for their return to the Premier League with the signing of forward Liam Delap from Manchester City and central defender Jacob Greaves from Hull City.
Delap has cost Ipswich an initial fee of around 15 million pounds (19.5 million U.S. dollars), with a further five million pounds depending on objectives.
The England U-21 striker scored eight goals in 32 appearances on loan at Hull City in the Championship last season, impressing with his ability to turn and run at defenders.
"I'm really excited. I have heard so many good things about the feeling around the club, and how the players and staff work. That's exactly why I'm excited to be here," Delap told Ipswich's TV channel.
Delap praised Ipswich coach Kieran McKenna, saying he liked to "play exciting football. It's quick and intense and I am looking forward to that. I want to bring goals and assists and I'll work as hard as I can to help the team."
Greaves shared a dressing room with Delap at Hull last season and leaves his hometown club after making 177 appearances for the Championship outfit that his father, Mark, also played for.
The left-footed defender is thought to have cost around 13 million pounds and will provide balance at the back, while he is also confident with the ball at his feet and a threat from set pieces. ■
