Sri Lanka reaches annual investment goals in 6 months in 2024

COLOMBO, July 12 (Xinhua) -- The Sri Lankan government has signed 35 investment agreements so far in 2024 and the Ministry of Investment Promotion has already met the annual investment target set by the Ministry of Finance, State Minister of Investment Promotion Dilum Amunugama said on Friday.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the second and third phases of the Export Processing Zone in Bingiriya, he said they are planning new investment zones in Iranavila, Mankulam, and Kankasanthuari areas in northern and eastern Sri Lanka.

In a press release, the President's Media Division said that upon completion of the Bingiriya Investment Zone, it is estimated that an annual export income of 2.6 billion dollars will be generated, and 75,000 job opportunities will be created.
