HANOI, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The Vietnam's construction sector recorded a 7.34 percent expansion in the first six months of 2024, the highest for the first half of a year since 2020, Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday, citing the Ministry of Construction.
The real estate sector grew 2.45 percent while the country's urbanization rate rose over 43.1 percent, said the report.
Dau Minh Thanh, head of the ministry's office, said a surge was seen in searches for real estate information by house-seekers and investors, while the transaction volume for apartments, houses and land plots tended to increase.
Real property supplies have shown recovery signs with the re-launch of many projects, he said.
The ministry has taken many concrete measures to boost social housing development.
The Vietnamese government has set the overall target of having 130,000 social houses completed nationwide this year. ■
