RIO DE JANEIRO, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Philippe Coutinho has reached an agreement to rejoin boyhood club Vasco de Gama on a year-long loan from Aston Villa, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old, who spent last season at Qatar's Al-Duhail, has two years left on his Aston Villa contract but was told he would not form a part of the Premier League side's plans next season.
"It's a feeling of great happiness, joy and anxiety," Coutinho told Vasco's official website. "I lived abroad for a long time, so it really is a feeling of coming home, to the place where I was raised, to the place I love, the club I love."
Coutinho is expected to make the first appearance of his new spell with the club against Atletico Goianiense in Brazil's Serie A on July 17.
The former Brazil international joined Vasco da Gama as a 16-year-old and made 19 first-team appearances for the club before earning a move to Inter Milan.
In addition to the Italian Serie A giants, he also had spells at Espanyol, Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. ■
