MADRID, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Spain women's international football goalkeeper, Cata Coll says she aims to add an Olympic medal to the World Cup winner's medal she won in Australia last summer, and adds that if Spain add Olympic gold to their world title, she will celebrate in a special way.
"If we win a medal then I will get a tattoo of the Olympic rings," promised the 23-year-old in an interview published by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
"I was very happy, last year we won the World Cup (beating England 1-0 in Australia) and now the aim is the Olympic Games," said the goalkeeper, who said she had long memories of the Games.
"I used to watch them with my father: we'd watch everything: athletics, tennis, badminton (...) I used to watch the Olympic Games and now I can be there, It's something you can't imagine," she said.
Coll believes that after winning the World Cup last year and adding the UEFA Nations League at the start of 2024, Spain are "close to a medal" and although she admits that a group that contains Brazil, Nigeria and Japan (who beat Spain in last year's World Cup group stage) will be "difficult" she believes that Spanish side has "the ability to do it."
Before travelling to Paris, Spain have to play European Championship qualifying games against the Czech Republic and Belgium. Although they have already assured their place in next summer's Euros, Coll explained the matches will be perfect preparation to "go to the Games in the best physical and mental shape." ■
