ULAN BATOR, July 10 (Xinhua) - Mongolia's coalition government, formed as a result of the recent parliamentary elections, was sworn in on Wednesday morning at the State Palace in the capital city of Ulan Bator.
Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene, chairman of the ruling Mongolian People's Party (MPP), was re-elected for another term as Mongolia's prime minister last week after his party secured a narrow margin of victory in the ninth parliamentary elections held on June 28.
The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) obtained 42 seats. The Hun Party, meaning "Person" in Mongolian, secured eight seats, with the Civil Will-Green Party and the National Coalition each securing four seats.
On Monday, the MPP, DP, and Hun Party signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to form a coalition government comprising a prime minister, 22 ministers, and 16 ministries.
Among them, 12 ministers are from the MPP, eight ministers are from the DP, and the remaining two are from the Hun Party.
Oyun-Erdene retained some ministers from his previous government, including Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg and Minister of Finance Bold Javkhlan.
Luvsannyam Gantumur, head of the DP, was appointed as the first deputy prime minister and minister of economy and development. Togmid Dorjkhand, leader of the Hun Party, assumes the role of deputy minister in charge of foreign trade and investment. Sainbuyan Amarsaikhan, former deputy prime minister, continues in his role as deputy prime minister.
Meanwhile, several ministries from the previous government have been renamed, and new ministries have been introduced. ■
