BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Prime Minister of the Republic of Vanuatu Charlot Salwai will pay an official visit to China on July 7-12 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
The following is a brief profile of Salwai.
Salwai was born in Vanuatu in April 1963. He was elected member of parliament in 2002, and served as minister of lands and natural resources, minister of education, minister of finance and economic management, and minister of internal affairs.
He acted as prime minister of Vanuatu from 2016 to 2020. In October 2023, he was reelected as prime minister.
He and his wife Marie have three children. ■
