BEIRUT, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Hezbollah and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Friday said the two groups are committed to continued field and political coordination "at every level to achieve the desired goals," according to a statement by the Lebanese militant group.
The statement came after Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah received a Hamas delegation headed by Khalil Al-Hayya, the Hamas deputy chief in Gaza.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed the security and political developments in Palestine in general, the truce negotiations for the conflicts in the Gaza Strip, as well as the conditions in Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq, the statement said.
Qatari, Egyptian, and U.S. mediators are seeking to reach a prisoner exchange deal and truce between Israel and Hamas.
The tension between Hezbollah and the Israeli army has been escalating recently as the Israeli military announced "its approval of operational plans for an attack on Lebanon."
Meanwhile, Nasrallah warned that no place in Israel "will be safe" from his party's missiles in the event of an outbreak of war.
On Oct. 8, 2023, Hezbollah announced its support for the Hamas movement through operations against the Israeli army across the Lebanese-Israeli border. According to its leaders, the Lebanese militant group will continue to do so until Israel stops its campaign against Gaza. ■
