NAIROBI, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Kenya Airways and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Kenya, a UN migration agency, signed an agreement Friday to enhance the fight against trafficking in persons and improve the protection of migrants.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU), signed in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, will see the airline's staff receive specialized training from IOM to recognize and respond to migrants in vulnerable situations.

"This MoU marks a significant milestone in our efforts to safeguard the rights and dignity of migrants. By joining forces with Kenya Airways, we can enhance our outreach and impact, ensuring that migration is safe and beneficial for all," said IOM Chief of Mission Dimanche Sharon.

Under the agreement, Kenya Airways and IOM will implement measures to identify and reduce trafficking, facilitate regular migration pathways and promote the protection of migrants.

Kenya Airways Group CEO Allan Kilavuka said "we are committed to providing our staff with the necessary training and resources to assist migrants, particularly those in vulnerable situations."

The partnership will enable the two partners to establish a framework for sharing information to facilitate timely interventions.
