ISTANBUL, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Turkish exports to Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member countries have increased significantly over the past five years, up 85 percent, according to a report by state-run TRT broadcaster on Tuesday.

In 2023, Türkiye's exports to SCO member countries surged to 26.1 billion U.S. dollars from 14.1 billion in 2019, taking up about 10 percent of the country's total exports.

Concurrently, Turkish imports from SCO member countries nearly doubled to 106.3 billion dollars last year from 55.6 billion dollars in 2019.

The TRT attributes this growth to Türkiye's enhanced engagements with SCO countries in recent years and improvements in commercial relationships.

Established in 2001, SCO now has nine member states -- China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, and Iran, encompassing around half the world's population and accounting for about a quarter of the global economy.
