ISTANBUL, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Turkish exports to Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member countries have increased significantly over the past five years, rising by 85 percent, according to a report by state-run TRT broadcaster on Tuesday.

In 2023, Türkiye's exports surged to 26.1 billion U.S. dollars from 14.1 billion in 2019, constituting approximately 10 percent of the country's total exports.

Meanwhile, Turkish imports from SCO member countries nearly doubled to 106.3 billion dollars last year from 55.6 billion dollars in 2019.

TRT attributed the growth to Türkiye's enhanced political and commercial engagements with SCO countries in recent years.

Established in 2001, SCO, with its nine-member states, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, and Iran, encompasses around half the world's population, and accounts for about a quarter of the global economy.
