ULAN BATOR, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's parliament, known as the State Great Khural, elected Dashzegve Amarbayasgalan as its new speaker on Tuesday, following the regular parliamentary elections held last Friday.
Amarbayasgalan, aged 43, has served as Chief Cabinet Secretary since 2022 and as Secretary General of the ruling Mongolian People's Party (MPP) since 2016.
His nomination received support from 96 percent of the 126 legislators during the parliament's first session.
The MPP, securing a narrow majority in the ninth parliamentary elections, holds 68 out of the 126 seats. ■
