JERUSALEM, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Israeli EuroCup team Hapoel Tel Aviv announced on Monday the signings of American player Marcus Foster and Ghanaian Ben Bentil, both previously played in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league.
Foster, a 29-year-old shooting guard, played for China's Shandong Heroes last year, averaging 13.8 points and 2.1 assists per game in 16 games.
His European career includes Hapoel Holon, where he was the top scorer of the Israeli league in 2020, Euroleague side Panathinaikos, Turk Telekom, Promitheas Patras, and Rytas Vilnius.
With Rytas, he was the top scorer in the FIBA Champions League for the 2022/2023 season and won the Lithuanian top league championship title last season.
Bentil, also 29, a center and power forward, played in the CBA in 2016, averaging 13.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 11 games for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers.
He then moved to Europe, playing for seven clubs, including Euroleague sides Panathinaikos, Olimpia Milano, and Red Star Belgrade.
He played 107 Euroleague games in four seasons between 2019 and 2023, averaging 6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
Hapoel's general manager George Hynas said: "Marcus is a very high-level player who combines talent, athleticism, and a deep understanding of the game. Ben can score, defend, play post-up, and is an excellent player in general." ■
