DAR ES SALAAM, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Four people, including three children, were killed on Friday night after their motorcycle knocked down a truck in the Iringa municipality in Tanzania's southern highlands, police said on Saturday.
Acting Iringa Regional Police Commander Alfred Mbena said the three children riding on the motorcycle and its rider died on the spot at 7:00 p.m. local time after the bike knocked down the truck at Ipogolo hills along the Iringa-Dodoma highway.
Mbena said the dead children were aged 5, 9, and 12 years old, adding that they were all pupils at Ipogolo Primary School in the Iringa municipality.
He said the motorcycle hit the truck after it had attempted to overtake the car using the wrong site and failed.
Mbena said the truck was heading to the Dodoma Region from the Ruvuma Region. ■
