DODOMA, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania's anti-corruption watchdog on Saturday vowed to fight corrupt practices during the civic polls slated for later this year and the general elections scheduled for October 2025.

Salum Hamduni, director general of the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB), said the bureau is well prepared to fight any corrupt practices by politicians during the two forthcoming elections.

"We will leave no stone unturned in dealing accordingly with politicians that will be implicated in engaging in corrupt practices to earn votes," Hamduni told a news conference in the national capital of Dodoma.

He said the PCCB, in cooperation with electoral stakeholders, is educating people ahead of the elections on the consequences of electing leaders through corrupt practices.

Electing political leaders through electoral corruption resulted in getting leaders that lacked integrity, competence, and commitment, Hamduni added.
