PUL-E-KHUMRI, Afghanistan, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Six commuters lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries in two road accidents in north Afghanistan's Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces on Thursday, officials said Friday.
Three persons were killed and four others, including two children and two women, injured after their car collided with a mini-truck outside Baghlan's provincial capital Pul-e-Khumri on Thursday night, a statement of provincial police confirmed.
A similar incident, which happened in Khwahan district of Badakhshan province on Thursday morning, left three dead on the spot and injured three others, provincial police said.
Poor conditions on the roads, reckless driving and lack of security measures during travel, according to Afghans, are among the causes of deadly road accidents in the war-ravaged country. ■
