NEW DELHI, June 28 (Xinhua) -- At least one person died and a few others were injured when a portion of a roof collapsed at New Delhi's airport on Friday, confirmed a local cop to Xinhua over phone.
The incident occurred at the airport's Terminal-1 amid heavy rains, with water leaking from various places in the roof.
Post-incident video footages showed heavy iron pillars lying on at least three cars with people trapped inside them. Those trapped were taken out after great efforts, and later admitted to a local hospital.
Following the incident amid heavy rains, all operations at the airport were temporarily suspended till 14:00 hours (local time), conformed a senior airport official. The airport is run and managed by a private firm.
As per the latest details, at least 16 departure flights and 12 arrival flights had been cancelled at Delhi's airport after the incident. ■
