LONDON, June 27 (Xinhua) -- One person in England has died from E.coli during an ongoing outbreak, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said Thursday.

The UKHSA said two people in England have died within 28 days of infection with Shiga toxin-producing E.coli (Stec).

"Based on the information available from health service clinicians, one of these deaths is likely linked to their Stec infection," said the agency.

"Both individuals had underlying medical conditions. The deaths occurred in May," it said.

The outbreak has seen more than 80 people admitted to hospital, according to figures released last week. Some supermarket sandwiches containing salad leaves are reported to be the outbreak origin.

As a precautionary measure, several food manufacturers have recalled some of their products.

As of 25 June, the UKHSA said there had been a further 19 cases linked to the outbreak, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the UK to 275.
