COLOMBO, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's cabinet gave approval for the identification of an investor through a competitive process for the implementation of a geo gas terminal project, the government's information department said on Tuesday.
The department said the project at the area called Kerawalapitiya in western Sri Lanka comprised of internal burner engines of 200 megawatts with twin fuel capacity.
According to the department, it is a project recognized by the long term electricity generating plan for 2023 to 2042 and approved by Sri Lanka public utilities commission. It is expected to be developed under build, own, operate, transfer basis for 20 years as an independent power generator, the department said. ■
