NEW DELHI, June 25 (Xinhua) -- The indefinite hunger strike of Atishi, a senior minister in the Delhi government, over the ongoing water crisis in India's capital Delhi, ended Tuesday after her hospitalization following a deterioration in her health.

The 43-year-old minister was admitted to a local hospital after her blood sugar level dropped to 36.

According to Aam Aadmi Party, Atishi did not eat anything for the last five days.

Atishi began her hunger strike on June 21 amid a heatwave in Delhi after writing a letter to the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the ongoing water shortage, seeking his intervention.

She accused neighboring Haryana of not providing adequate water to Delhi, resulting in the water crisis.
