DHAKA, June 23 (Xinhua) -- A grand rally to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Bangladesh ruling Awami League party was held in capital Dhaka Sunday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of the party, attended the rally. Tens of thousands of leaders and activists of the party and its associated bodies as well as dignitaries from home and abroad thronged the historic Suhrawardy Udyan (garden) in the capital to join the grand rally.
In her speech, Hasina asked the leaders and activists of the Awami League party to work for the development of the country and its people.
Hasina said no attack or conspiracy can ruin the Awami League if the party can be strengthened and has the full support of the masses.
Also on Sunday, Awami League and its associate bodies paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman coinciding with the ruling party's 75th founding anniversary. ■
