AMMAN, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Monday warned against the dangers of Israel's "unilateral and illegal" actions in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
Jordan's Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Majed Qatarneh made the remarks in a meeting in Amman with the chairman and members of the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories.
The official stressed the necessity for Israel to comply with international law, stop the offensive on the Gaza Strip, and ensure the entry of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to the territory, whose people have been experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe since last October, according to a statement by the ministry.
Chairman of the committee Mohan Peiris as well as the committee members expressed their appreciation for Jordan's efforts to stop the conflict and ensure the protection of civilians.
They highlighted Jordan's role in delivering humanitarian aid to the strip, confirming that these efforts reflect Jordan's commitment to defending the rights of the Palestinian people and supporting their just cause. ■
