BOGOTA, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Veteran striker Radamel Falcao said Friday he is anxious to play in Colombia's top flight for the first time after signing with Millonarios.

The 38-year-old, who parted ways with Spain's Rayo Vallecano earlier this month, is expected to make his debut for the Bogota club in July after agreeing to a six-month contract.

"I'm excited to play professional football in Colombia, which is something I've never done, and to live in the country again," Falcao told W Radio.

"There is the personal challenge of being able to do well with my club and I also feel a responsibility to put on a good show," added the center-forward, who is the all-time leading scorer for Colombia's national team with 36 goals in 104 appearances.

Falcao began his senior career with Colombian second-tier club Lanceros Boyaca before earning a move to Argentine giants River Plate at the age of 18.

He has since had spells at Porto, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Manchester United, Chelsea, Galatasaray and Rayo Vallecano.

"My idea is to contribute and be just another player," Falcao said. "I'm going to fulfill my childhood dream, which is to wear the Millonarios shirt."
