BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Domestic teen comedy "Be My Friend" topped the box office chart on the Chinese mainland on Tuesday with a daily earning of 5.01 million yuan (about 704,057 U.S. dollars), data showed.
The film tells the story of a teenage girl who travels back in time to understand her single mother's past. It had grossed 158 million yuan as of the 11th day of its release on Tuesday, according to the China Movie Data Information Network.
It was followed by "Break Through the Darkness," a crime action movie featuring China's fight against organized crime, with a daily box office earning of 4.58 million yuan.
Japanese sports anime "Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle" came in third, grossing 4.05 million yuan on Tuesday, after leading the mainland box office for three days since its release on Saturday.
The total box office revenue on the Chinese mainland stood at 31.73 million yuan on Tuesday. ■
