ISLAMABAD, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Three people including two personnel of the anti-narcotics force (ANF) and a civilian volunteer were killed in firing by alleged drug traffickers in Pakistan's east Punjab province on Thursday, the ANF said.
The incident happened in Jhelum district of the province where the personnel signaled a suspected car to stop for checking at a check post, the force said in a statement.
Rather than stopping, the suspected drug traffickers opened fire at the ANF personnel and fled the scene, the statement said.
The two personnel and the volunteer accompanying them were killed right on the spot, in the firing by the criminals.
The fleeing criminals are being chased, and police have started an investigation to trace their network. ■
