BEIJING, June 13 (Xinhua) -- China's meteorological authority on Thursday renewed a yellow alert for severe convection weather, forecasting thunderstorms, gales and hail as well as heavy rain in some parts of the country.
From Thursday morning to Friday morning, thunderstorms, gales and hail will sweep parts of Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Shandong, Jiangxi, Guizhou and Guangxi, according to the National Meteorological Center.
Intense heavy rainfall, with hourly precipitation ranging from 50 mm to over 80 mm, will lash parts of Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Liaoning, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guizhou and Guangxi, the center said.
The center advised drivers to drive carefully due to low visibility and vessels to maintain a safe navigation distance.
China has a three-tier color-coded weather warning system for severe convection weather and sandstorms, with orange representing the highest warning, followed by yellow and blue. ■
