NEW DELHI, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed sadness at the death of more than 40 Indian nationals in a devastating fire in Kuwait.
Over 50 Indians were also injured in the mishap.
Modi said that the Indian Embassy in Kuwait was closely monitoring the situation while working with the Kuwaiti authorities to assist those affected in the deadly fire.
The fire in Kuwait was saddening, "My thoughts are with all those who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest," Modi said on social media.
A fire broke out Wednesday morning in Mangaf area in southern Kuwait.
According to Kuwaiti sources, around 160 workers were inside the affected building, with many of fatalities being of Indian nationality. ■
