XI'AN, China, June 10 (Xinhua) -- China beat South Korea 2-0 here on Monday and claimed the championship of the Huashan Cup, a U-19 men's football invitational tournament.
The South Koreans had the upper hand in the first half but were unable to convert a goal.
China replaced two forwards on the pitch to strengthen their attacks in the second half and opened the scoring through Liu Chengyu's close-range header in the 77th minute.
In the 90th minute, the hosts enlarged their lead after the 17-year-old striker Liu dribbled to unleash a shot in a counter-attack.
After securing this victory over South Korea, China won the tournament with two wins and one draw.
"This victory is good for our players to happily grow up. They did a great job tonight and for the whole tournament," said China head coach Dejan Durdevic.
In another match on Monday, Murodjon Komilov's goal in the 93rd minute helped Uzbekistan win over Vietnam 2-1.
China will host the AFC U-20 Asian Cup in 2025.■
