DHAKA, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Lieutenant General Waker-Uz-Zaman will replace outgoing Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed.
Bangladeshi Defense Ministry's Inter Service Public Relations department in a statement Tuesday said that Zaman has been appointed as the army chief for three years from June 23.
Zaman is currently serving as Chief of General Staff of the Bangladesh Army.
According to the statement, Zaman will also be promoted to the rank of general on that day. ■
