HERAT, Afghanistan, June 11 (Xinhua) -- A total of 1,300 people with drug dependence have recovered after receiving medical treatment at the rehabilitation center of west Afghanistan's Herat province, Mawlawi Hayatullah Rohani, provincial director for the counter-narcotics department, said Tuesday.
The group of people, following 10 to 16 months of medical treatment at the rehabilitation center, have recently been reunited with their families, the official added.
So far, about 5,000 drug users have received medical treatment at Herat's rehabilitation center and reintegrated into society, the official said, adding Herat's capital Herat City is free of drug users nowadays. ■
