DHAKA, June 9 (Xinhua) -- A three-day fruit fair in Bangladesh, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, concluded here Saturday.
This edition of the fair, themed "Fruits, Nutrition, and Smart Agriculture for a Wealthy Bangladesh," opened on Thursday. Eight government institutions and 55 private institutions from across the South Asian country participated in this year's fruit fair. A total of 63 stalls displayed different types of fruit and fruit cultivation technology.
Visitors learned about different techniques of fruit cultivation and bought various types of chemical-free fruit.
Former Agriculture Minister Md Abdur Razzaque, also the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Agriculture, called for efforts to increase the output of fruits.
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension, the total production of fruits stood at 1,50,33,000 tonnes in the country in fiscal year 2022-23. ■
