NEW YORK, June 6 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 jolted South Sandwich Islands region at 22:58:44 GMT on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 35.0 km, was initially determined to be at 55.30 degrees south latitude and 29.19 degrees west longitude. ■
