JERUSALEM, June 5 (Xinhua) -- German software giant SAP entered an agreement to purchase the Israeli website navigation company WalkMe for about 1.5 billion U.S. dollars, the two companies said in a joint statement on Wednesday.
WalkMe developed a digital adoption platform powered by artificial intelligence to assist organizations in integrating new technologies and enhancing internal processes.
The platform, layered atop an organization's software products, applications, or websites, enhances user proficiency through personalized guidance and workflow automation, facilitating work efficiency.
"By acquiring WalkMe, we are doubling down on the support we provide our end users, helping them to quickly adopt new solutions and features to get the maximum value out of their IT investments," said SAP CEO Christian Klein.
Among WalkMe's 2,000 customers are the U.S. Department of Defense and major corporations such as IBM, Nestle, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Siemens, LinkedIn, Walgreens, and Warner Music Group.
Founded in 2011 and based in Tel Aviv, WalkMe hires over 900 employees and is traded at Nasdaq with a market cap of about 1.26 billion dollars. ■
