BEIRUT, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Two members of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah were killed, and another was wounded on Monday in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, Lebanese military sources said.
The sources, who spoke anonymously, said that an Israeli drone attacked a car near the city of Sidon with four air-to-surface missiles, burning the car and killing its driver. The victim, identified as Ali Hussein Sabra, was a local official of Hezbollah.
In a separate incident, an Israeli drone fired three air-to-surface missiles at a motorcycle in the town of Naqoura, burning the motorcycle, killing its driver, and wounding another person.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah said its fighters attacked the Israeli positions of al-Zaoura, al-Motella, Kiryat Shmona, and Khallet Wardah, accurately hitting their targets.
Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on Oct. 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by Hezbollah toward Israel in solidarity with Hamas' attack on Israel the day before. Israel then retaliated by firing heavy artillery toward southeastern Lebanon. ■
