YANGON, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar aims to import 1.6 million tons of fertilizer in the fiscal year 2024-2025, the state-run Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Sunday, citing the Steering Committee for Purchasing and Distribution of Urea Fertilizer.
Based on the actual import volume in the 2023-2024 FY, the committee will screen and recommend additional imports as needed, according to its coordination meeting, the report said.
Following reports from the Myanmar Fertilizer, Seed, and Pesticide Entrepreneurs Association, the committee permitted the import of 679,999 tons of fertilizer and 10,922 tons of pesticides for the period of April-June 2024.
Myanmar imported 1.047 million tons of fertilizers in the 2023-24 fiscal year. ■
