HONG KONG, June 1 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 jolted the Kermadec Islands region at 15:54:41 GMT on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 19.6 km, was initially determined to be at 28.97 degrees south latitude and 176.87 degrees west longitude. ■
