MADRID, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Athletic Club Bilbao continue their policy of extending the contracts of key players as the club confirmed that Spain international defender Dani Vivian has signed a new seven-year contract until the end of June 2031.

The 24-year-old product of the Athletic youth system follows goalkeepers Julen Agirrezabala and Unai Simon, who both signed new contracts over the past week, while other players such as Nico Williams have also signed new deals in the past months.

Vivian has made 103 first-team appearances for the club, with 40 of those last season, as the club won the Copa del Rey for the first time in 40 years and finished fifth in La Liga.

His displays saw him make his debut for the Spanish national team against Colombia in March and he has been included in Spain coach Luis de la Fuente's preliminary squad of 29 players for the European Championships, which begin in two weeks.

"Athletic is the best thing there is for me and this means we will keep our roads united for a long time," he said on the club website.

"I have really enjoyed things up to now and this season has been special. Now I want to carry on winning titles with Athletic and make our people happy. This is the place I have to be and the length of the contract shows that," commented Vivian.
